Liberty and Housewiferie
April 23, 2013The foundation of our Colonial revolution was based on a separation from the autocratic oversight of a King. And, our parents, but that's in the fine print.
The major philosophers who provided us with the courage to take that step into independence came from one Mr. Locke and another Mr. Hobbs, both philosophers who published works on Freedom then on Liberty.
While pure freedom is chaos, it is then Liberty that offers the chains of freedom that motivate us all toward the pursuit of happiness.
It is these chains that are made of the links of the laws we legislate and rely upon for our security within the boundaries of Freedom with Liberty.
It was Jean Paul Sartre who detailed commitment by writing that once we make a choice, we are condemned to it. We choose to abide by the laws but condemn ourselves to live within the oft times frustration of -- sometime -- its limitations. Marriage is a joint effort within the laws of that commitment and the partner within the commitment is the housewife. Or, in today's society, the house-husband. Roles not gender.
Kudos, I say kudos to the housewife who takes the role of family security to heart and makes that commitment, condemned to the role of not correcting our trade agreement with China. With not defining citizenship requirements for immigrating citizens, they dedicate themselves with keeping their children clean and healthy. Sometimes to their own self sacrifice. Kudos for the housewife for living the example of liberty.
I applaud the washing machine.
